A total of 1,310 out of the 6,364 (20.58%) who completed the 4-Sunday bar exams last September 2008 have passed, with Judy Lardizabal of San Sebastian College topping the exams with a rating of 85.70 percent.
Mylene Amerol-Macumbal, of the Mindanao State University, came second with an average score of 85.65 percent.

Due to delays in encoding of the results, the 2008 bar exam results will be released at 6:00pm from the earlier announced time of 4:00pm.

The Supreme Court of the Philippines in its official website announced that the Supreme Court En Banc will release the September 2008 Bar Exam results on Friday, April 3, 2009.
The Supreme Court Justices will meet on Friday at 9:00 am to deliberate the passing percentage.
There were a total of 6,364 bar examinees who completed the 4-Sunday bar exams held at the De La Salle University in Manila out of the 6,533 admitted to take the bar exams.
The 2008 bar exam results will be posted on the Supreme court official website at www.sc.judiciary.gov.ph. Bloggista.org will also post the complete list of 2008 bar exam passers as an alternative site should the SC website encounter any problem.
The bar examinees can also check their names on LCD projectors to be displayed at the Supreme Court frontyard along Padre Faura street in Manila on April 3, 2009.
For a law student to pass the bar exams, the SC announcement also stated:
The Rules of Court provide that “a candidate may be deemed to have passed his examination successfully if he has obtained a general average of 75% in all subjects without falling below 50% in any subject.â€
In determining the average, subjects in the examinations are given the following relative weights: Political and International Law, 15%; Labor and Social Legislation, 10%; Civil Law, 15%; Taxation, 10%; Mercantile Law, 15%; Criminal Law, 10%; Remedial Law, 20%; and Legal Ethics and Practical Exercises, 5%, for a total of 100%.
