It was a fantastic finish by Fernando Alonso of Team Renault. Robert Kubica of Team BMW-Sauber survived a fierce attack by Kimi Raikkonen to win 2nd place, and left Kimi of Team Ferrari in 3rd place. Nelson Piquet Jr. of Team Renault and Jarno Trulli of Team Toyota won the 4th and 5th place respectively.
Lewis Hamilton, who suffered major setbacks during the race, finished 12th place. Early in the race, a chaotic race start sent David Coulthard out of the race in the first circuit bend. Team McLaren’s Heikki Kovalainen also retired early and was unable to complete the race with Timo Glock of Team Toyota.
Felipe Massa’s aggressive driving sent Lewis Hamilton at the tail end of the race in midrace laps when his Ferrari hit Hamilton’s car forcing it to spin. This and a time penalty cost Hamilton the chance to win the race.
