MANILA – A graduate of the Camarines Norte State College in the Bicol Region topped the 2009 electrical engineering licensure exam given in early September, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced.
He is Eruel Obina who obtained a grade of 90.75 to head the list of 1,101 successful examinees out of the total 2,613 who took the test, the PRC said.
With a grade of 89.30 percent, Noel Arreza of the Mindanao State University in Marawi City placed second, followed by Marwin Pangilinan of Holy Angel University in Pampanga with 89 percent.
Richard Macatangay Guba of University of Batangas ranked fourth with 88.9 percent while Roldan Principe Lualhati of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Santa Mesa, Manila landed in fifth place with 88.45 percent.
Technological Institute of the Philippines graduate Jesus Colita Rupinta ranked sixth with a grade of 88.35 percent and Emilyn Mae Sicat Matibag of the University of Batangas placed seventh with a grade of 88.15 percent.
Joonie Magpantay Valencia of Batangas State University-Batangas City, 87.60 percent and Eddy Jose Yaba Managuit of Camarines Norte State College-Daet, 87.20 percent placed eighth and ninth, respectively.
John Paul Palma Cua of the University of the Philippines – Los Banos completed the top 10 list with a grade of 87.10 percent.
The PRC announced the oathtaking ceremony of the successful September 2009 electrical engineering examinees as well as previous passers who have not taken their oath, will be held on November 4 at 1 p.m. at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia in Pasay City.
In the PRC list, out of the 151 schools that participated in the exams, only three qualified for the top performing schools category, meaning they have at least 80 percent passing percentage for those with 10 to 25 examinees.
These are the University of Batangas in which all of its 16 examinees passed; UPLB, 15 passers out of 16 takers, 94 percent; Central Visayas State CAFT-Tagbilaran, 22 passers out of 25 takers, 88 percent.
For schools with 26-50 examinees, only the University of Eastern Philippines – Catarman was considered a top performer with 25 out of 28 takers, 90 percent.
