The Filipinos can look forward to two long weekends this November.
Malacañang has declared November 1 and 2 (Sunday and Monday) as special non-working holidays in observance of the All Saints Day and All Soul’s Day, respectively per Proclamation No. 1669.
It will be recalled that President Arroyo had earlier declared during her 62nd birthday last April 5 the Muslim’s Eid al-Adha as national holidays.
November 27 and 28, 2009, which falls on a Friday and Saturday, were declared as national non-working holidays while November 30, a Monday, is Bonifacio Day which is a regular holiday in the country.
It is expected that with the declaration of these holidays it will be easier for Filipino Muslims all over the Philippines to celebrate the Islamic festival, Eid al-Adha which signifies the culmination of the Hajj, an annual pilgrimage to Mecca by an estimated 1.6 billion Muslims all over the world.
