Tropical depression “Tino†reduces its strength as it turns into a Low Pressure Area (LPA), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Monday.
While public storm signals were lifted in Northern and Central Luzon, PAGASA raised gale warning advisory to North and Central Luzon coasts due to rough sea conditions in the areas.
PAGASA deputy director Nathaniel Cruz said the gale force winds left by “Tino†as it interacts with the northeast monsoon (hanging amihan) could be dangerous for fishermen or anyone to venture out into the seaboards of Northern and Central Luzon as it could capsize small boats and vessels.
The weather bureau issued the advisory after weather forecasters estimated “Tino†to be about 120 kilometers north northeast of Casiguran in Aurora. PAGASA authorities expect “Tino†to remain in a weakening state within the next hours.
Meanwhile, some parts of Metro Manila experienced rains earlier this morning brought about by the northeast monsoon. According the the state bureau, the northeast monsoon is now affecting Northern and Eastern Luzon. The latest bulletin from PAGASA said these areas will continue to experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and isolated thunderstorms, while the rest of the country will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms. Light to moderate winds coming from the east to northeast will prevail over Mindanao with slight to moderate seas except during thunderstorms, it added.
