After killing Ramos, police said Baharan tried to flee from the scene but was pursued by two policemen who responded to calls for help.
During the chase, police said Baharan shot it out with the the pursuing lawmen. But before he was mowed down, Baharan shot and killed Police Officer 2 Joaquin Angid and also wounded his companion.

Witnesses said Ramos tried to pacify Bahasan but he took out his service firearm and pointed it at her.
This irked Ramos who dared Bahasan to shoot her, which he did. But before he fled, witnesses said Bahasan put on his police uniform and commandeered a passing motorized tricycle.

Police said that when they spotted Bahasan in the tricycle, the two boarded boarded their patrol car and gave chase.]
Police said that after several minutes, the tricycle suddenly stopped and Bahasan alighted from the vehicle.
The pursuing lawmen, apparently thinking that Bahasan had realized his guilt and had decided to surrender, also stopped chasing him, according to the police.
But as the two were getting out of the police car, police said Bahasan opened fire at them, triggering a shootout.
Two bystanders were slightly wounded by stray bullets during the shootout, police said. But the two were released after they were treated of their wounds at the nearest hospital, police added.
