Another sports scandal flared up over the weekend, this time around, the world’s number one golf athlete’s reputation is on the line. Tiger Woods’ supposedly quiet car accident became a controversy after TMZ reported that domestic squabble has started it all.
At about 2am on Friday, November 27, 911 received a call from Woods’ neighbor in Windermere, reporting that a Cadillac SUV crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree in front of their yard. When the police arrived at 2:25am, Elin Nordegren was watching over her husband, Tiger, lying on the ground with blood on his mouth according to Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn. He also said that Woods has been in and out of his consciousness on the way to the hospital.
Nordegren initially told the police officers that she came out of the house and “broke the back window with a golf club†to help Tiger get out of the car after she heard the crash.
What worsened the rumors was Tiger’s refusal to talk to the media or police about this accident. In fact, he has cancelled his meeting with the authorities thrice before coming up with his official statement. Furthermore, tabloids have allegedly, inked a New York hostess, Rachel Uchitel to Woods, insinuating that the two are having an affair.
From TigerWoods.com, Woods appealed to his fans, “This situation is my fault, and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again.â€
“This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible.â€
Still, after posting his statement on his website, a lot of questions are still unanswered which fails to address the controversies at hand.
