Last night’s 35th Metro Manila Film Festival Awards night at the SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia in Pasay City proved to be a triumph not only to the winners but also to the Entertainment Industry as a whole. The superb ratings as well as the box-office records of the seven (7) finalists gave the industry its much-needed boost following the recent disasters and recession the country has encountered.
Winners for the Best Picture were determined on the basis of artistic merit, box-office results and Filipino cultural/historical value.
Noteworthy were the granting of the Lifetime Achievement Award for Dolphy and the victory of Ms. Sharon Cuneta as she won her first MMFF Best Actress Award for her portrayal of a Chinese Matriarch in Mano Po 6.
