Manila RTC Judge Branch 26 Silvino Pampilo has dismissed the petition of Social Justice Society and transport group Pasang Masda against Pilipinas Shell, Chevron and Petron for allegedly conspiring to “cartelization†of oil in the country. The decision was based on the testimony of former National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) Chief Solita “Winnie†Monsod, that a series of price increase does not mean that there is a conspiracy among the big oil players. And that compared to other countries, the Philippines still has among those who sell petroleum products at a lower price.
Meanwhile, the price of oil in the world market has dropped below $82 per barrel today as the cold weather in other Asian counties are beginning to come to an end and a warmer weather is expected in the coming days.
