Phivolcs Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology has lowered Mayon’s alert level from 3 to 2 following a decline in its activity. Â Recorded volcanic quakes for the last 24 hours were only 6 and that sulfur dioxide emission has declined from an average of 2,500 tons to just around 600 tons.
The volcano has not ejected ash since December 29, 2009 and the steam emission  has considerably declined.  Alert level 2 means that an imminent hazardous eruption is not likely to happen.
