MANILA – President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is seriously considering the extension of her declaration of a nationwide state of calamity for at least one year to enable the government to keep a firmer control of prices especially of basic commodities, a Malacanang official said.

Social Weather Stations (SWS) said the survey, taken from June 19 to 22, found that the 50 percent represented about 9.3 million families which was three points higher than the 47 percent (8.7 million families) posted in February.
